What is vishing?
Vishing is a scam phone call — phishing that comes down the line instead of your inbox. It runs in four steps:
The call
A voice you think you know
Someone rings claiming to be your bank, a government office, or tech support. The number on your screen can be faked to look completely real.
The alarm
An urgent problem invented
They tell you something is on fire: fraud on your account, an unpaid tax bill, a hacked device. The panic is the point — it stops you thinking.
The handover
You're walked through it
Step by step they get you to read out a code, move money to a "safe account", or install software that lets them control your phone or computer.
The loss
It all goes to them
Everything you hand over goes straight to the caller, and a real bank or office never asks for any of it. If a call pressures you, end it. Hang up and call back on the number from the card — a real caller never minds.
